NIMS stands for the National Incident Management System. This system was introduced in the early months of 2004 by (DHS) the Department of Homeland Security. The National Incident Management System provides the terminology, organizational processes needed for efficient, effective and collaborative incident management as well as the principles and doctrine at all levels.
